Wasabi
Its valuable rhizome produces a distinctive mix of 21 isothiocyanates, featuring the potent Allyl ITC and the notable 6-(methylsulfinyl) hexyl ITC (6-MSITC), commonly referred to as Wasabi Sulfinyl.
Wasabi Sulfinyl
To date, numerous studies have highlighted the diverse physiological benefits of 6-MSITC, encompassing detoxification, antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer properties, as well as improvements in blood circulation and neuroprotection. Recent research has demonstrated its potential in enhancing outcomes for mouse models of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. Furthermore, a clinical study involving 37 healthy men and women who consumed Wasabi Sulfinyl (WS)—a wasabi extract powder with a 0.8% concentration of 6-MSITC—over an eight-week period, reported notable enhancements in participants’ attention and judgment capabilities. Importantly, no adverse effects related to WS were reported. Consequently, WS has been formulated into a health supplement, leveraging its myriad of beneficial effects.
The results of another study underscored the neuroprotective effects of 6-MSITC, showing its ability to normalize oxidative status, positively influence the Nrf2-pathway, reduce apoptosis and neuroinflammation, and facilitate behavioral recovery. These collective insights suggest that 6-MSITC holds potential as a beneficial adjunct in therapies for Alzheimer’s disease.

Anti-tumor and Anti-cancer Properties
Research has consistently demonstrated the effectiveness of Wasabi Sulfinyl in combating a variety of tumors and cancer-related conditions. Notably, the anti-tumor properties of 6-MSITC have been observed in various types of cancer, including endometrial carcinoma, breast, skin, pancreatic, colorectal, and blood cancers. It’s important to note, however, that the efficacy of 6-MSITC varies across different cell types.

Aging and Brain
Aging affects the brain in several ways, leading to brain shrinkage, changes in blood vessels, and cognitive decline. These effects unfold across different levels, from molecular shifts to structural transformations. Age also heightens the risk of stroke, white matter lesions, dementia, and memory challenges, accompanied by alterations in neurotransmitter and hormone levels.

Nonetheless, Shell Ginger presents a potential method for decelerating the aging process. Integral to Okinawa, Japan’s diet—where there’s notable longevity among residents and lower occurrences of cardiovascular diseases, strokes, and cancer—Shell Ginger has shown promising results. Research, including studies on worms, indicates that Shell Ginger may boost lifespan by an average of 22.6%. Laden with a rich mix of polyphenols such as Chlorogenic acid, Ferulic acid, Quercetin, Epicatechin, Catechin, and Kaempferol, Shell Ginger emerges as a potent source of health-enhancing compounds.
Thus, the combined power of Shell Ginger and Wasabi in JIPANG Ginger Wasabi holds the promise of significantly bolstering health.
